Job Description: Test Technician Responsibilities:
Assist design engineers in development work evaluating components, prototype assemblies and product validation tests.
Maintain and use test specifications to test products and prototypes. Be able to interpret results to verify that performance matches requirements. Check reasonableness, prepare and present test reports and maintain records.
Perform safety and EMC certification tests to UL, CSA, and IEC standards and create test reports for third-party certifying bodies. External travel to third party test facilities is a requirement which include domestic and international locations.
Construct test setups and fixtures requiring mechanical construction and electrical wiring from design engineer specifications.
Troubleshoot and repair electronic and electrical circuits from schematic drawings under the supervision of design engineers or test engineer.
Must have soldering experience and be able to solder surface mount components: 1206, 0805, 0603 and 0402 sizes
Setup and collect data with test equipment like DMMs, ammeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, thermometers, Labview, etc.
Assist and participate in ISO 17025 audits for UL and SGS accreditations.
Help monitor and update equipment to meet current and future test requirements. Specify, coordinate, and execute purchase of lab supplies and equipment.
Help monitor and maintain instrument calibration and records (both electrical and dimensional). Send equipment out for repair and/or replace when needed.
Follow and comply with all safety, work rules and regulations.
Monitor and update lab safety policies and procedures including lab safety improvements, annual safety audits, MSDS, Job Safety Analysis reports, accident reports, lab wiring diagrams as additional equipment is installed, testing conditions (test setups) for safety and OSHA requirements.
Participate in lab safety committees as a representative of the development engineering department.
Maintain departmental housekeeping standards and participate in monthly lab safety inspection and clean-up.
Education
Associate degree in engineering plus 5+ years of related experience. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 2+ years of related experiences.
Complexity of tasks
Duties require understanding of standard engineering theories, concepts, principles, techniques, and knowledge of drive (VFD) design and operation. Proficiency in using lab test equipment to make measurements and interpret results.
Experiences Preferred candidate with UL, CSA and IEC tests experience related to drives (VFD). Experience in using *** products is a plus. Must be proficient in MS Office products.
