Job Summary

The Mechanical Drafter is responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining mechanical and electro-mechanical engineering drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks. This role supports engineering and manufacturing teams by translating redlined drawings into controlled production documentation, processing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), and maintaining accurate technical documentation in accordance with established document control procedures. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Create, revise, and maintain mechanical and electro-mechanical drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Convert redlined drawings into accurate production-ready engineering documentation.
  • Process and initiate Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Update engineering drawings, bills of material (BOMs), and technical documentation to reflect approved engineering changes.
  • Collaborate with Production Engineering and cross-functional teams to implement engineering revisions.
  • Support the creation, review, and release of controlled engineering documentation.
  • Maintain configuration management and document control records.
  • Review technical specifications and engineering documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Utilize ERP, PLM, and engineering document management systems to maintain engineering records.
  • Ensure compliance with document control procedures and quality standards.
  • Manage multiple drafting assignments while meeting project deadlines.
  • Maintain organized engineering files and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional drafting and documentation duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of drafting and engineering documentation experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and SolidWorks, including part modeling, assemblies, and drawing creation.
  • Experience processing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and controlled document revisions.
  • Experience updating engineering drawings from redlined documentation.
  • Working knowledge of bills of material (BOMs), configuration management, and engineering document control.
  • Experience using ERP, PLM, and engineering document management systems such as Visual Manufacturing, Omnify, Agile, or EPDM preferred.
  • Strong computer proficiency and technical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk throughout an eight-hour workday.
  • Must be authorized to work in environments requiring access to export-controlled information and provide proof of U.S. person status if required.

Education

  • Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent related experience required.
