Job Summary
The Process Quality Specialist is responsible for planning, conducting, and coordinating complex quality assurance initiatives with a strong emphasis on electrical and mechanical systems. This role plays a critical part in enhancing customer satisfaction by resolving complaints, analyzing defects, and implementing effective corrective actions. The position focuses on ensuring the quality and reliability of products used in critical power applications, including power distribution units, static transfer switches, and uninterruptible power supplies. The Process Quality Specialist serves as a technical advisor to leadership and customers while driving continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Quality Plans, Control Plans, inspection checklists, and establish Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters and quality gates.
- Monitor and analyze First Pass Yield metrics to identify improvement opportunities and enhance product quality and production efficiency.
- Investigate customer complaints, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams during customer audits, factory acceptance tests, and certification audits to ensure compliance and timely resolution of issues.
- Perform Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) analysis and lead initiatives to reduce defects, improve efficiency, and increase profitability.
- Map manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for process improvements, including automation.
- Conduct product audits in accordance with applicable electrical and mechanical industry standards.
- Support quality assurance efforts for products used in critical power applications, including power distribution units, static transfer switches, and uninterruptible power supplies.
- Serve as a technical advisor to leadership and customers on complex electrical and mechanical quality issues.
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Mentor team members and support professional development within the quality function.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance with a focus on electrical and/or mechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical components, mechanical assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
- Proficiency in quality tools and methodologies, including FMEA, 7 QC tools, 5S, 5 Whys, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, SPC, DMAIC, and 8D root cause analysis.
- Experience working with electrical and mechanical industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Ability to manage complex projects and multiple priorities.
- Must have authorization to work in the United States.
Work Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in quality assurance within an electrical and/or mechanical manufacturing environment, preferably supporting critical power or similar products.
