Job Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for supporting and executing strategic sourcing and purchasing activities within an assigned commodity or category. This role drives sourcing initiatives, cost reduction opportunities, supplier relationship management, and continuous improvement efforts while partnering with internal stakeholders to meet business requirements.

The ideal candidate has 2–5 years of relevant sourcing, procurement, purchasing, or supply chain experience and can work independently with general supervision.

Job Responsibilities

  • Initiate and manage strategic sourcing activities within the assigned commodity or category.
  • Identify and support cost reduction and cost optimization opportunities.
  • Develop and implement sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Establish and maintain effective supplier relationship management processes.
  • Negotiate supplier contracts, pricing, and service agreements as assigned.
  • Coordinate supplier integration and implementation activities with internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor market conditions, supplier capabilities, material availability, and pricing trends.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify sourcing requirements and define purchasing strategies.
  • Develop buyer and market profiles to support sourcing and procurement decisions.
  • Research marketplace trends and identify opportunities to improve sourcing strategies.
  • Help define acceptable supplier performance and service levels.
  • Support supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in projects focused on process improvement, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Support transformation initiatives, including digitalization and sustainability efforts, as assigned.
  • Analyze sourcing challenges and recommend practical solutions based on established policies and business practices.
  • Communicate sourcing activities, supplier information, and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, purchasing, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting sourcing initiatives, supplier management, contract negotiations, or purchasing activities.
  • Ability to work independently with general supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to research market conditions, supplier capabilities, and industry trends.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to influence others within the assigned area through clear communication of facts, policies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other relevant procurement or supply chain systems.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Procurement, Finance, or a related field preferred.
