Energy Staffing with Dedicated Recruiters

Energy infrastructure depends on more than assets and equipment. It also relies on the people in control rooms, substations, tank farms, and on turbine decks who keep power flowing and fuel moving. When critical roles remain unfilled, the impact can extend to an energy facility’s safety, availability and regulatory standing.

Equiliem supports the workforce behind North America’s critical energy infrastructure through specialized energy staffing and workforce solutions. We partner with utilities, generators and producers to help strengthen operational continuity, connecting them with qualified professionals who meet technical, safety and compliance requirements.

Our evaluation process goes beyond resumes. We assess each candidate’s operating experience, technical capabilities and readiness for the environment they will enter. When a position requires certification, licensure or site access qualification, we review the available documentation and coordinate the applicable qualification requirements with the client.

We offer a range of energy services

Contract Staffing

Whether responding to a fall outage, a construction program, or an extended vacancy, Equiliem provides technical professionals screened for the credentials and experience the work requires. Our energy staffing scales coverage inside the fence during outages and other work surges, then ramps back down once the unit is online again.

Direct Hire Recruiting

For long-term hiring needs, we identify operators, engineers and technicians whose experience aligns with your equipment, shift pattern and safety culture. A specialized energy recruiter evaluates candidates based on the facilities they would actually operate.

Build Your Team

Executive Search

Plant managers and VPs of operations are busy running facilities, not reviewing job postings. Our energy executive search reaches them through targeted, confidential outreach. Effective energy headhunters do more than identify experienced leaders. Our team builds long-term relationships across the sector, helping us discreetly engage plant managers, operations leaders and other experienced professionals who may not be actively considering a move.

Why trust Equiliem with your energy roles

Energy sites operate in highly regulated environments where a failed credential costs valuable time. Our screening is tailored to the role and assignment: we screen for relevant experience and qualifications, review available documentation, and coordinate applicable client-specific credentialing, screening, training and onboarding requirements. Depending on the role, that may include OSHA 10 or 30 course completion, NERC certification for operators whose work touches the bulk electric system, TWIC cards for terminal and port access, CDLs and DOT physicals for drivers, current drug and alcohol testing status under applicable site programs, applicable licenses and certifications, and background screening.

See what our energy clients say about us

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Our outage was six weeks out and my usual contractor bench had nothing left, everybody was booked. Equiliem fielded a full I&C crew with the screening already done, and I mean actually done, not "in progress" the way I usually hear it. Nobody got hung up at the badge office, which on an outage is worth more than I can politely say.
Carl D., Outage Manager at a power generation company
I audit the files, so vendors tend to dread my calls. Every candidate file Equiliem has sent over came in complete, the certification documentation there, TWIC and consortium status accounted for, all of it organized before day one. In fifteen years of doing this I have not had to send one of their files back, and I notice things.
Renee S., Safety and Compliance Manager at a midstream operator
We hired a plant manager through them and what struck me was how quiet the whole thing was. Nobody at our site knew we were looking, nobody at his site knew he was leaving until it was signed. In this industry everybody talks, so keeping a search contained like that is a real skill and not a common one.
Frank B., VP of Operations at an independent power producer
We use them across four states now, power and gas both, and it is one phone number. I used to manage a different staffing rep in every region and half my week went to keeping them straight. Now it is one conversation, and the person on the other end actually knows our sites. That is the whole review, honestly.

Equiliem is there when you need us

For more than 30 years, Equiliem has helped organizations build and strengthen the workforce behind North America’s critical infrastructure, and energy has long been one of our core practice areas. As a family-owned company, we support short- and long-term hiring across every level, from craft labor to site leadership, with applicable screening coordinated for the assignment and continued engagement well after a placement begins.

We've completed searches for a variety of energy roles

Plant Manager, Combined-Cycle Facility

A 600-megawatt gas plant lost its manager to a competitor two months before a planned major inspection, which is about the worst possible timing for a leadership gap. We ran the search quietly and closed it in 34 days with a manager who had led the same turbine model through two inspections elsewhere. The inspection went ahead on its original schedule, which was the outcome the owner cared about most.

NERC-Certified System Operator

A transmission desk was down two operators and covering the difference with mandatory overtime, which works for a few weeks and then starts costing you the people you still have. We placed two certified operators within three weeks, both screened for current NERC certification and comparable desk experience. The overtime schedule came back to normal before anyone else resigned over it.

I&C Technicians, Fall Outage

A generation site needed fourteen instrument techs for a five-week outage and had burned through its usual contractor list by August. We fielded the full crew with screening and drug tests finished ahead of mobilization day, so badging never touched the critical path. The outage closed on schedule, and six of the techs came back for the spring outage by name request.

Director of Environmental, Health & Safety

A multi-site generator had run the EHS function through an interim for most of a year, and the site audits were starting to show it. We closed a direct placement director in 33 days, someone who had built safety programs at two other fleets. Over the following year the recordable rate came down, which is the number that role exists to move.

Frequently asked questions about energy recruiting

For Employers

Depends what it is. Craft and technician roles often come off our bench in one to two weeks. A NERC-certified operator or a licensed engineer usually runs two to three weeks, and a plant manager is a proper search of three to five weeks. We will tell you which one you are in before you commit.
