Physician Assistant Staffing with Dedicated Recruiters

An unfilled physician assistant role can lead to reduced service capacity, longer schedules, added workload for supervising physicians and delays across a department. Many practices and hospitals engage a specialized workforce partner after vacancies begin affecting coverage, throughput or provider workload.

Equiliem screens for NCCPA certification, specialty experience and relevant procedural background to help organizations identify physician assistants for the role. Many organizations turn to us after internal recruiting efforts have not reached experienced PAs, many of whom are already employed in another practice. Practices and hospitals rely on provider continuity to maintain service coverage and support their own credentialing and privileging processes.

Equiliem supports these organizations with scalable staffing, recruiting, credentialing and workforce solutions that help leaders maintain stability in changing workforce conditions.

Direct Hire Recruiting

For long-term hiring needs, we help organizations identify physician assistants whose certification, specialty experience and clinical judgment align with your setting, service line and clinical volume. A specialized physician assistant recruiter evaluates candidates against the clinicians and teams they would work alongside. We are not the physician assistant headhunters of decades past. We are sophisticated relationship builders who maintain connections across the profession, allowing us to reach established PAs who are not actively searching.

Why trust Equiliem with your physician assistant roles

The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval

The Joint Commission Health Care Staffing Services Certification

Physician assistant placements depend on complete certification documentation, and an incomplete file can delay patient care. Equiliem has earned The Joint Commission’s Health Care Staffing Services (HCSS) Certification, reflecting an independent evaluation of our processes and our commitment to quality, safety and continuous performance improvement in temporary clinical staffing. Our screening is tailored to the role and assignment: we screen for relevant experience and objective credentials, review available documentation, and coordinate applicable client-specific credentialing requirements. Depending on the role, that may include NCCPA certification, state licensure, DEA registration where the role requires an individual registration, supervisory agreements where they are required, background screening and applicable exclusion screening. Privileging and payer credentialing decisions remain with the hospital or practice.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

We were actually delaying orthopedic cases because we had no first assist coverage, which is not a position you want to be in. The surgical PA that Equiliem placed started within two weeks and our OR schedule recovered pretty much right after, so we protected our case volume during a stretch where we'd been bleeding it. I was relieved, frankly.
Mark D., Practice Administrator at an orthopedic group
Credentialing a PA leaves zero room for error on our end. The physician assistant that Equiliem placed came in with NCCPA certification, licensure and registration all documented, so when it went to our credentialing committee there was nothing to send back. That basically never happens, and it saved us a whole cycle.
Teresa V., Compliance Lead at a surgical practice
We wanted a PA who would actually fit our surgeons and stick around, because the churn is what really kills you. The PA that Equiliem placed meshed with the team quickly and has become part of how the service runs day to day, so retention just hasn't been something we've had to worry about with them.
Alan G., Physician Partner at a specialty group
We've placed two PAs through Equiliem and both were certified, prepared, and dependable, no asterisks. That's the kind of thing that keeps us covered without me having to think about it, and it's why I'd go back before I'd go shopping around again.

We've completed searches for a variety of physician assistant roles

Surgical Physician Assistant

An orthopedic group was delaying cases because they didn't have first assist coverage in the OR, which is an expensive way to run a surgical practice. We placed a certified surgical PA within two weeks, and once they were in the room the schedule recovered and the group could stop turning surgical time into idle time.

Emergency Medicine PA

An emergency department needed fast track coverage to get through a stretch of unusually high volume without their door-to-provider times blowing out. We supplied a certified PA in ten days who kept the fast track moving, so the department held its times in range during exactly the period they were most at risk of slipping.

Physician Assistant, Cardiology

A cardiology practice needed a physician assistant to support a panel that had grown past what their team could comfortably carry. We recruited a direct placement hire in five weeks, and with them in place the follow up delays that had been creeping in started to ease back off.

Urgent Care PA

A multi-site urgent care operator needed permanent coverage in place to open a new location on schedule. We closed the search in about a month with a PA who was ready to go, and the site opened when it was supposed to rather than slipping while they kept looking.

Frequently asked questions about physician assistant recruiting

For Employers

Two to three weeks for most roles. Surgical and subspecialty PAs can take longer because the pool is smaller, and we’ll tell you which you’re in.
