Schedule: 6:30a/7:30a-3:30p/4:30p
Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS, PALS (all through AHA/RQI), and STROKE. Floating required to units at SSMH/GGH.
Complete Description
We are seeking experienced professionals who can circulate the following service lines:
- Orthopedics: Total joints, ortho trauma, sports medicine (shoulder/knee arthroscopies), upper extremity procedures, some endoscopic, some open (hands, fingers, nerve repairs, etc.)
- General Surgery: Laparoscopic and open
- Urology: Including use of a litho laser
- ENT: Pediatric patients, PE Tubes, T&As, Septoplasties, FESS with and without navigation
- GI: Colonoscopies, EGDs, Dilatation
- Spine: ACDF, Lumbar Fusions, discectomies, Kyphoplasties, posterior Cervical fusions
- Ophthalmology: Cataracts with use of microscope and phaco machine
- Podiatry: Similar to sports medicine, some open many endoscopic procedures
Note: We do not currently perform OBGYN, GYN, Vascular, Cardio thoracic, or organ transplant procedures.
The ideal candidates have experience working in small community hospital settings with call experience. They may be called in for any of the above service lines and, while on call, they are the only professional on site. Experience in GI is a perk, not a requirement, and ophthalmology experience is not common due to designated “eye teams”. Candidates should have some familiarity with the unique equipment used in each service line.
Responsibilities
- Apply nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
- Assess patient/family needs through active listening, social perceptiveness, and data analysis.
- Create a developmentally and age-appropriate, culturally relevant, individualized plan of care.
- Promote, advocate for, and protect the health, safety, and rights of the patient.
- Teach others as appropriate and delegate tasks consistent with education, training, and scope of practice.
- Motivate patient/family by teaching them what is needed to continue care/healing at home.
- Systematically evaluate quality and effectiveness of Nursing Practice.
- Develop a helping, trusting, and caring relationship with patients and families.
- Demonstrate skill in application of interventions including medication administration.
Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated. Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues.
Skills
- BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, NYS RN Licensure – Required
- Circulator experience – Required
- 2 years working in the OR – Required
