Nuclear Staffing with Dedicated Recruiters

An unfilled role at a nuclear station can delay site access processing, increase pressure on qualified crews and put outage schedules at risk. Many stations engage a specialized workforce partner well ahead of an outage because obtaining unescorted access authorization and mobilizing qualified personnel takes time.

Equiliem evaluates access authorization history, fitness-for-duty standing, technical qualification and professional readiness to help stations identify candidates whose documentation is current and complete.

Many organizations turn to us after internal recruiting efforts have failed to produce experienced station professionals. Stations rely on workforce continuity to maintain operational readiness and regulatory compliance.

Equiliem supports nuclear organizations with scalable staffing, recruiting, credentialing and workforce solutions that help site leaders maintain stability across the outage cycle.

We offer a range of nuclear services

Contract Staffing

For outage season, Equiliem provides radiation protection technicians, I&C technicians and planners whose screening is already underway before the unit comes offline. Our nuclear staffing is structured so access processing does not become a schedule bottleneck.

Direct Hire Recruiting

For long-term hiring needs, we help stations identify operators, engineers and radiation protection staff whose experience aligns with your procedures and the way your site actually works. A specialized nuclear recruiter evaluates candidates against the qualifications a station requires for safe and compliant operations.

Executive Search

Site vice presidents and plant managers are scarce, and the best professionals are already employed elsewhere. Our nuclear executive search approaches them through established relationships and confidential outreach. Nuclear headhunters operate in a small, highly specialized talent market where qualifications, reputation and industry relationships matter. Our team maintains connections across the nuclear sector, helping us discreetly engage experienced station leaders whose backgrounds align with the technical, regulatory and operational demands of the role.

Why trust Equiliem with your nuclear roles

Access is a critical factor in nuclear workforce planning, which is why candidate files are initiated and reviewed well before outage work begins. Our screening is tailored to the role and assignment: we screen for relevant experience and qualifications, review available documentation, and coordinate applicable access, qualification and screening requirements with the station. Depending on the role, that may include unescorted access authorization history, fitness-for-duty standing under 10 CFR Part 26, drug and alcohol test currency, employment and background history, NRC reactor operator or senior reactor operator licenses, radiation worker training, dosimetry records, plant access training completions and ANSI 3.1 qualifications for the technical positions that require them.

See what our nuclear clients say about us

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Anyone who has run an outage knows the schedule risk is not the work, it is the badging. Equiliem started screening their RP techs four months out without me having to push for it, and every single one cleared access before we came offline. I have been doing outages for twenty years and that has literally never happened with a vendor before.
Dale W., Outage Manager at a nuclear station
My job is the access files, and a bad packet can cost a candidate weeks. The files Equiliem sends are complete the first time, employment history filled in properly, FFD status documented, no blanks for me to chase. It sounds like a small thing unless you do my job, in which case it is the entire thing.
Sandra M., Access Authorization Coordinator at a utility
We needed a system engineer and the seat had been empty long enough that I was doing the job myself on top of mine. The engineer Equiliem placed knew the system cold, our EDGs specifically, same design. He was productive in his first week instead of his first quarter, and a year later he is still here and mentoring the new grads.
Priya V., Engineering Director at a nuclear plant
Third outage running with their techs now. Same quality every time, people show up qualified and badged and they know how to behave inside a protected area, which you cannot teach in orientation week. At this point I plan the outage assuming their roster holds, and it has not made me regret it yet.

Equiliem is there when you need us

For more than 30 years, Equiliem has supported the workforce behind North America’s critical infrastructure, and nuclear is the most exacting version of that work. As a family-owned company, we support short- and long-term hiring across all levels, from decontamination technicians through station leadership, with applicable screening coordinated for the assignment and continued engagement after a placement begins.

We've completed searches for a variety of nuclear roles

Radiation Protection Technicians, Refueling Outage

A station needed eighteen RP techs for a 32-day refueling outage, and their incumbent vendor had come up eleven short the cycle before. We started screening four months out, and every tech cleared access before breaker-open, most with recent unescorted access at other plants. The outage held its schedule, and the RP manager kept our roster for the next cycle without rebidding it.

Senior Reactor Operator

A single-unit site had an SRO retirement coming and no bench behind it, and an open search at that level tends to rattle a control room. We ran it discreetly and closed in 35 days with an operator who had held an SRO license on the same reactor design, which shortened the license class runway the site had budgeted for. The retirement handover happened with overlap instead of a gap.

System Engineer, Emergency Diesel Generators

The EDG system engineer seat had been vacant five months, and the open corrective actions on that system were stacking up in a way regulators eventually notice. We placed an engineer in 21 days who had owned the same system at another station. Within two quarters the backlog was worked down to where the engineering director stopped reporting on it weekly.

Outage Manager

A plant wanted permanent outage leadership in place well ahead of a spring refueling rather than renting it again. We closed the search in 33 days, early enough for the new manager to own the milestone plan rather than inherit it. That outage came in a day and a half ahead of the previous one on the same scope, which made the argument for the direct placement hire better than we could.

For Employers

Earlier than feels necessary. Access processing takes weeks even when a file is clean, so three to four months out is comfortable and six weeks out is a scramble we will be honest about.
