Skilled Trades Staffing with Dedicated Recruiters

An unfilled skilled trades role can lead to longer downtime, deferred maintenance, added overtime and production interruptions. A millwright who can true a shaft, a machinist who holds tolerance on the first piece and a maintenance mechanic who catches a failing bearing before the line stops are the hires that decide whether a schedule holds.

Equiliem screens for journeyman standing, certification and demonstrated hands-on capability to help manufacturers and contractors identify tradespeople who can perform from their first shift.

Many organizations turn to us as retirements outpace the apprentices coming up behind them, a gap that leaves the strongest tradespeople with their choice of work. Manufacturers and contractors rely on workforce continuity to maintain uptime, equipment reliability and production commitments. Equiliem supports operations leaders with scalable staffing, recruiting, credentialing and workforce solutions that meet both shutdown and steady-state demand.

We offer a range of skilled trades services

Find Talent Now

Direct Hire Recruiting

For long-term hiring needs, we help organizations identify journeyman-level tradespeople and working leads whose qualifications align with your machines, product and shift structure. A specialized skilled trades recruiter tests capability before you meet anyone. Skilled trades headhunters know that experienced tradespeople often have their choice of opportunities. Our recruiters maintain relationships with millwrights, machinists, mechanics and other skilled professionals, helping us understand who may be ready for a change and what combination of shift, work environment and opportunity could make the right move worthwhile.

Build Your Team

Workforce Management

As skilled trades programs scale, workforce complexity can grow alongside them. Equiliem helps organizations manage contingent labor through Employer of Record and payrolling solutions, independent contractor (IC) compliance, and other workforce management solutions designed to create greater consistency, visibility, and control.

Whether supporting specialized project talent, former employees returning as consultants, or workers sourced directly by your team, we help manage the employment, onboarding, compliance, and administrative responsibilities behind the workforce. The result is a more structured approach that helps skilled trades organizations access the talent they need while reducing administrative burden and supporting program continuity.

Why trust Equiliem with your skilled trades roles

Trade credentials vary by state and craft. Our screening is tailored to the role and assignment: we screen for relevant experience and qualifications, review available documentation, and coordinate applicable client-specific requirements. Depending on the role, that may include journeyman cards and trade licenses, OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 course completion, NCCER credentials, rigging and powered industrial truck training, welding qualifications, background checks, drug screening and employment eligibility verification. When a role calls for a skills check that documentation cannot show, we coordinate hands-on testing with you before you commit.

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Our senior millwright gave notice and I genuinely did not sleep well until Equiliem found his replacement, because that shutdown was coming whether we were ready or not. They got us a guy with corrugator time, actual corrugator time, with three weeks of overlap. The outage came in a day early. I've been doing this a long time and that search would have taken me six months alone.
Gord W., Plant Engineer at a packaging plant
Machinists will tell you anything about tolerances in an interview, so the fact that Equiliem set up tests on our own machines told me they'd done this before. All three second-shift hires passed and all three are still here a year in. Our scrap numbers on the night shift match days, which honestly I did not expect.
Irene S., Owner at a precision machine shop
Half a year that mechanic job sat open, and my crew was working every other weekend to cover it. Twenty-two days after I called Equiliem it was filled, and filled right, the guy knew packaging lines cold. The overtime stopped and I got my weekends back too, which my wife would tell you was the real outcome.
Randy H., Maintenance Supervisor at a bottling plant
I watch the compliance side, so what I notice is the file: journeyman card there, OSHA current, screens done, all before day one. We get audited by corporate every year and the Equiliem placements have never once been the problem. Boring is exactly what I want from staffing paperwork, and they are reliably boring.

We've completed searches for a variety of skilled trades roles

Millwright

A corrugating plant lost its senior millwright to retirement with the annual shutdown eight weeks out. We placed a journeyman millwright with corrugator experience in 21 days, leaving three weeks of overlap before the outage. The shutdown finished a day early, and the plant asked us to start a pipeline for the next retirement they could already see coming.

CNC Machinists (second shift, three seats)

A precision shop won an aerospace contract and needed three second-shift machinists who could hold tight tolerances unsupervised. We tested candidates on the shop's own machines and filled all three seats in five weeks. Scrap rates on the new contract stayed within the shop's daytime numbers, which was the metric the owner was most nervous about.

Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

A bottling plant was running weekend overtime to cover a mechanic vacancy that had sat open for half a year. We placed a mechanic with packaging line experience in 18 days, with references from two previous plants. Weekend overtime for the maintenance crew ended within the month, and the plant manager reported the crew's mood improved almost as fast as the budget.

Tool and Die Maker

A stamping operation had dies queued for repair because their tool room was down a maker, and the backlog was starting to idle presses. We recruited a journeyman tool and die maker in 28 days from a shop two counties over. The repair queue cleared inside a quarter, and press utilization went back to where the plant needed it.

Frequently asked questions about skilled trades recruiting

For Employers

Contract mechanics and machinists, often one to two weeks. A journeyman millwright or tool and die maker is a genuine search, usually three to five weeks, because the people exist but they are all working. We will size it honestly up front.
